President's Message March 2022

“We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon”

Theodore Roosevelt

Dear Members,

Spring is right around the corner and with its arrival brings the promise of new beginnings. As we enter the third year of the COVID pandemic I am filled with optimism that we have finally turned the corner in our fight against it and can continue our return to normalcy as a people, an industry, and a nation.

I am happy to announce that we have launched a new website for our membership to access; www.detroitcraftsmensclub.com. This site offers the opportunity for our members to see the latest news and updates related to club business including Craftopics (past and present issues), event notifications and the opportunity to RSVP and/or purchase tickets for upcoming events. I strongly encourage everyone to review the sign-up instructions in the current issue of Craftopics and get registered. This is a game changer for our club that brings our communication efforts into the 21st century, what a great way to begin our next 100 years.

Personally, I had the pleasure of attending an Industry Conference earlier this month that had over 800 people in attendance. It was incredibly refreshing to be able to engage in face-to-face conversation with colleagues and friends that I haven’t seen in years. It was a stark reminder to me that direct contact is so important to developing and maintaining relationships. This is why I am so excited to present to you a slate of events for the remainder of the current Craftsmen year which will give us the opportunity to re-engage as industry colleagues and friends. So we can rekindle our relationships which are so important to maintaining the health of our organization. I encourage all members and their guests to attend as many of these events as possible.

Upcoming Schedule of Events

On Tuesday, March 22nd the “Past Presidents” will meet during their annual meeting to discuss the current state of affairs of our club, to vote on a new slate of officers and board members for the 2022-23 fiscal year and to offer insight and guidance regarding the mission of our organization.

On Friday, May 13th we will finally be able to celebrate our 100th year anniversary, this will take place at Sindbads in Detroit. I encourage all members to make an effort to attend this once in a lifetime event.

On Monday, June 13th our annual scholarship golf outing will be held at the Links of Novi, please access the website to sign-up for the event.

On Tuesday July 26th we have scheduled our annual Detroit Tigers’ Game, the Tigers are hosting the Padres.

Just a reminder that if you didn’t see it in our latest email blast this edition of Craftopics will be the final printed version of this newsletter and all future editions will be posted on our website.

I sincerely thank every one of you for your ongoing support and dedication to our mission of “Share Your Knowledge” and look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Yours in Craftsmenship,

Tony
